How to Find the Least Crowded Dates for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2024

Since the number of tickets sold to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in 2024 are limited, attendance is capped at a much lower rate than you’ll see during an average day at the parks. This means that ride lines are usually shorter.

However, that doesn’t mean that some areas of the parks won’t feel congested. To find the least crowded times to visit Walt Disney World’s Halloween Party in 2024, look at the cost for tickets across various dates. Cheaper tickets suggest that Disney expects lower attendance on those days, so they drop the cost of the party ticket to encourage more guests to attend.

Generally, the earlier you attend the Halloween party, the less crowded it will be. As you might expect, more people attend closer to the actual holiday. It isn’t uncommon for party days right before Halloween to sell out completely.

Offered in 2023

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

If you’re a fan of the Disney classic “Hocus Pocus” and its wickedly fun villains, then you won’t want to miss the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2023. This live show features the Sanderson Sisters themselves – Winifred, Mary, and Sarah – as they team up with other classic Disney villains to put on a devilishly delightful musical performance.

The show takes place at the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage and features catchy tunes, high-energy dancing, and plenty of laughs.

Cadaver Dans

Most Disney fans are aware of the iconic Dapper Dans, a staple of Main Street USA for generations. At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Dapper Dans are reincarnated as the Cadaver Dans.

It is rumored that the Cadaver Dans first appeared at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in 2012 and quickly became a fan favorite. Dressed in ghostly white costumes and makeup, the quartet sings chillingly delightful renditions of classic Halloween and western tunes with some much anticipated silliness thrown in.

Halloween Dance Parties with Some of Disney’s Favorite Characters

If you’re in the mood for a dance party, you won’t want to miss the DescenDANCE Party at Rockettower Plaza Stage or Disney Junior Jam at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Both offer lively dancing and interactive shows.

If you listen closely, you might hear a fine collection of sea shanty’s as you walk the eerily lit streets of Adventureland. Rusty Cutlass is rumored to haunt these parts, bringing some spirited entertainment to guests.

Halloween Character Meet and Greets

One of the biggest highlights of Walt Disney World’s Halloween parties is the chance to mingle with characters. While the big stars will certainly make an appearance all decked out in their Halloween costumes, it’s also one of the few times of year where you can interact with some of the lesser seen stars, such as the Seven Dwarfs or some with a more villainous demeanor. At past events, Drusilla and Anastasia have been sighted bickering through the streets, while the likes of Jafar hold court at their own meet and greet location.

Here are the most likely characters to find at Walt Disney World’s Halloween party in 2024 and where they tend to hang out:

  • Country Bears: Roaming through Liberty Square
  • Captain Jack: Near Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Jasmine and Genie or Abu and Aladdin: Adventureland near the Tiki Room
  • Jafar: Across from the Swiss Family Tree House
  • Drusilla and Anastasia: Roaming Fanstasyland
  • Belle and Gaston: Near Gaston’s Tavern
  • Arial and Eric: Near Little Mermaid ride
  • Cinderella, Elena, Tiana and Rapunzel: Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland
  • Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore: Near Winnie the Pooh ride
  • Minnie, Donald and Daisy: Dumbo ride
  • Goofy: Near Goofy’s Barnstormer
  • Alice or Mad Hatter: Near Cheshire Café

Trick or Treat Across the Magic Kingdom

One of our favorite things about the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the opportunity to trick-or-treat across the park. Trick or treating is open to children and adults, and there is no limit to how many times you may pass through one of the candy stations. However, we usually leave with a full bag and a thick hoard after visiting only a portion of the stations once. Disney cast members are known for being quite generous with the portions they distribute.

In the past, all the sugary goodness has been supplied by M&M Mars, so you can expect an abundance of chocolatey treats, as well as some options not derived from the cocoa bean.

Guests who arrive at the beginning of the party will be offered a bag for collecting candy as they enter the parks, so no need to bring your own. If you are in the park before the party starts, you will need to visit one of the special locations throughout the various lands to collect your bag, as well as a wristband to identify you as a partygoer.

Trick or treat stations are located at multiple points in each of the Disney World lands and are easily identified. Large inflatables typically lighted each spot.

Another thing we appreciate about trick or treating the Disney way is their regard for sufferers of food allergies. Those with dietary sensitivities are handed a different colored bag. When you approach each station with this bag, cast members will hand you a token.

It may not seem as exciting as watching handfuls of candy fall into your stash, but each token is redeemable for allergy-friendly treats at designated locations. Best of all, cast members are provided with a list of finds that are acceptable to most common allergies, helping to ensure that nothing untoward makes it into your bag.

Photo Booths and Magic Shots

What Halloween party would be complete without special photo mementos? Disney makes it easy to store up your memories with special photo booths and Magic Shots you’ll only find at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Photo booths allow visitors to step into friendly Halloween scenes and become part of the party action. They’re located at multiple points throughout the park. Most will have lines early in the evening, but these tend to dissipate as the night wears on.

Magic Shots deliver fun surprises when you view your photos and are available at Disney PhotoPass locations. Just look for a Disney cast member holding a camera.

In the past, we’ve gone to view our pictures in the My Disney Experience app to find that the Headless Horseman had joined our photo. At another time, some spooky little haunts photobombed our shot outside the Haunted Mansion.

New Halloween Events for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween in 2024

Each year, Mickey rolls out the carpet to some new friends and frenemies during the Halloween party and 2024 is no different. Guests can expect to see these extra special surprises:

  • New costumes for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse: Mickey and Minnie will be greeting guests in all new attire featuring ghoulish spiderweb designs.
  • More Villains Sightings: Villain sightings have long been a favorite part of the Disney’s Halloween party, and in 2024, Mickey’s promising more space on the agenda for some of his less mousy friends. You could see Cruella, Jafar, Maleficent and more. If you’re lucky, they may even feel kindly enough to pose for a selfie.
  • NEW DescenDANCE Party: Inspired by the upcoming Disney Original Movie “Descendants: The Rise of Red;” premiering on Disney+ on July 12, this event invites guests to show off their best villain DescenDANCE Party. We’re hoping this makes more sense once the movie premiers.
  • Bruno Madrigal joins the fun: Mickey invites everyone to talk about Bruno as he joins Mirabel to chat and interact with guests at their Casita in Fairytale Glen.
  • New earlier start time for “Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade”: A highlight of the party, the Boo-to-You parade will now start an hour earlier at 8:15!

Disney World Halloween Party Parade

One of the biggest draws to the Walt Disney World Halloween Party in 2024 is the spooktacular the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. This iconic parade has been a staple of the Halloween festivities at the Magic Kingdom since 1995 and has continued to delight guests of all ages with its creepy characters, catchy tunes, and hauntingly beautiful floats.

Opening parade float from Walt Disney' World's Halloween Party Parade, Boo to You.

The parade takes place twice each night during the party and features beloved Disney characters dressed up in their Halloween best, as well as a few spooky surprises along the way. The highlight is a chilling visit by the Headless Horsemen as he trots his way down Main Street. The parade alone is almost worth the price of admission in our opinion.

In 2024, expect the first parade showing to start at 8:15 pm. That’s an hour earlier than years past for parents of little ones who might find it hard to wait until the 9:00 showing.

Special Halloween Treats and Eats

If you’re a foodie, then you won’t want to miss the special treats and eats available at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. From spooky snacks to themed beverages and desserts, there’s something to satisfy every palette at this event.

Many treats are available exclusively during the Halloween party, so you won’t be able to find them anywhere else in the park. Parties from past years saw sweet pumpkin-spiced treat, a Not-So-Poison Apple Pie Milk Shake and the Pain and Panic Hot Dog.

Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Fireworks

Another highlight of the Walt Disney World Halloween Party in 2024 is the Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show, which is a Halloween-themed extravaganza featuring some of Disney’s most beloved characters. The show is hosted by Jack Skellington and revolves around the Disney villains, who are causing mischief and mayhem in the park. Of course, Disney’s most beloved characters come together to save the day.

This amazing display of pyrotechnics, projections, and special effects is set to an original soundtrack and features unexpected spooky surprises. If you haven’t seen a Disney World holiday fireworks show, you really don’t know what you’re missing.

Guests who want to experience the fireworks show to its fullest should try to find a spot along Main Street USA or in front of Cinderella’s Castle. These locations offer the best views of the projections and special effects, as well as the fireworks themselves.

Special Ticket Considerations

Before purchasing your Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets, you should know that tickets are non-refundable, even if the weather turns foul. It’s a good idea to watch your weather app for the latest forecast the night you attend and pack rain gear for the evening if it looks stormy.

Generally, the later you attend in the season, the lower the chance of rain.

If You’re Going to Dress for the Season: Costume Guidelines

Disney invites guests of all ages to dress for the season, as long as you follow a few common sense guidelines. Avoid any props that could be construed as an actual weapon or those that contain sharp points or edges.

Personal safety is always paramount at Disney, so they also ask that you avoid long costumes that could present a trip hazard. Along these lines, you may wear a cape as long as it is only waist length.

Children under 14 may wear a mask, as long as it does not obstruct their peripheral vision. Anyone over 14 is asked not to wear a mask.

To be sure your costume is compliant, take some time to read the official dress code for Halloween parties.

Is Mickey’s Halloween Party Worth It?

Mickey’s Halloween Party can be one of the most spooktacular events of the season, but whether it’s worth it to you depends on a few factors. First, what is your reason for attending?

If you’re mainly visiting the party to experience short wait times at popular attractions, you may be disappointed. While wait times can be lower than those you’d experience during the day, on sell-out nights the time you spend in line may not be as low as you expect it to be.

If you’re mainly interested in short waits for rides, we recommend you wait until after the first parade of the evening to really start experiencing attractions. Many guests leave after this event. You’ll also find that crowds dwindle as the hour gets later, so you’ll likely have little to no wait the closer it gets to the end of the event.

If your reason for attending Mickey’s party is to experience seasonal festivities with all the Disney flair, then it’s highly unlikely that you would be disappointed with your ticket purchase. With exclusive merchandise, treats, parades and shows, it really is the only way to celebrate Halloween for Disney fans.
