Disney World Packages have been released for 2024, and big changes await park visitors in the next year. Before we get to the specifics, let’s clarify a few of the details surrounding package bookings.

First, if you’re wondering what a Disney World vacation package is and the advantages of booking one, we have a complete vacation package blog that you’ll want to check out. This article will provide you with important particulars, but in summary, a vacation package allows you to bundle the cost of your hotel room with the cost of your theme park tickets.

The biggest advantages in booking a package are:

  • Reduced deposit: Disney vacation packages in 2024 will require a minimum deposit. In 2023, the deposit is $200. This holds your reservation with the balance due 30 days before arrival. We expect 2024 packages to have similar requirements, while booking a room only reservation and purchasing tickets separately requires a deposit equal to one night’s stay and the full cost of your tickets paid at the time of purchase.
  • Payment Plans: When working with a Disney Travel Planner, you can institute a simple and seamless payment plan, allowing you to pay on your vacation over time.

Disney World packages in 2024 may be booked for 1 to 14 nights and include a keepsake luggage tag per person. Guests who book a Disney World package in 2024 will also receive some exciting Magical Extras. These include:

  • 4 miniature golf admission vouchers per package, redeemable at either Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course or Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course.
  • 4 Admission vouchers per package to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
  • A 10% discount at select restaurants, stores and experiences (Basin, City Works Eatery &Pour House, Crystal Arts by Arribas Brothers, House of Blues Restaurant & Bar, Paradiso 57, Rainforest Café, Ricoh Business Centers, Splitsville Luxury Lanes, Sugarboo & Company, Surrey bike rentals at Disney resort hotels, The BOATHOUSE, T-REX)
  • 15% discount at select restaurants, stores and experiences (Chapel Hats, Coco-Cola Store, Just Fun Socks, Kendra Scott, Superdry, Volcom)
  • 20% discount at select restaurants, stores and experiences (Edward Beiner and Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company)
  • Special offers at the Spice & Tea Exchange and Wetzel’s Pretzels

In addition to these benefits, packages in 2024 include some exciting changes designed to make the guest experience far more enjoyable.

This is one bit of news we are thrilled to announce. Dining plans will return in 2024 and can be added to any vacation package. The dining plan offers guests a set number of meals for a predetermined per day cost, eliminating the guess work when it comes to budgeting for food.

While the costs have not yet been revealed, we do know that Disney World packages in 2024 represent a significant cost savings over booking your package and purchasing food separately. For instance, you’ll save up to 20% for kids ages 3-9 with the dining plan compared to purchasing meals separately.

We also know the different dining plans that will be available with 2024 Disney World vacations. Disney will offer 2 different dining plans: the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan. Each offers a certain number of meals per day, and you can use them in any combination.

Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan

The easiest way to understand the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan is to look at an example, using a four-night trip. In this instance, each guest purchasing the Disney Quick-Service Plan would receive the following over the length of their stay:

You can see that this works out to 2 quick-service meals a day, 1 snack a day and unlimited use of the refillable mug at your resort. However, you can use these credits as you see fit. If you want to skip a quick-service meal and pay out of plan for a character meal, you can do so, and then use the skipped meal on another day. The same holds true for snacks.

Disney Dining Plan

While the Quick-Service Dining Plan is great for guests who enjoy spontaneity and the opportunity to eat on the run, the Disney Dining Plan is better suited to guests who like to stop and savor food experiences or to relax for an hour or so during the day or evening.

The Disney Dining Plan offers a combination of quick-service dining and table service opportunities to round out the package. We can better understand this plan by looking again at a 4-night trip. Each guest listed on the package would receive over the course of 4 days:

  • 4 Table-Service Meals
  • 4 Quick-Service Meals
  • 4 Snacks
  • 1 Resort Refillable Mug

As with the Quick-Service Dining Plan, guests may use their meals in any combination they choose. They may skip certain meal types on some days and double up on others or simply enjoy one meal type per day.

In addition, you can exchange two table-service meals for one signature dining experience or a dinner show.

When booking the Disney Dining Plan, it’s highly recommended that you make advanced dining reservations, so you may want to book with a Disney vacation planner or a travel agent specializing in Disney travel, since they can help you make these reservations.

Goodbye Park Reservations with Disney World Packages 2024

The current park reservation system will be eliminated for guests booking a Disney World package in 2024. If you aren’t familiar with this concept, guests attending the parks in 2023 are required to make a reservation to attend each park.

The park reservation system has been the subject of great controversy since it was implemented in 2020. Fortunately, Disney has listened to guest concerns and will do away with the need for reservations next year. This allows for greater spontaneity when traveling to Disney World, allowing you to change your plans on the fly.

We find flexibility to be key to enjoying a Disney vacation, particularly for first-time guests. It’s easy to over- or underestimate how much time you’ll spend in the different parks. Eliminating park reservations makes it far easier to attend a park for a second day if you find you need to or skip a park entirely.

Extended Hours Continue for Resort Guests in 2024

Another advantage to booking a Disney World package in 2024 is Early Theme Park Entry. All guests staying at a Disney World resort will be able to enter any one theme park a day up to a half an hour before scheduled park opening.

In addition, guests staying at a Disney deluxe resort will be eligible for extended evening hours. With this perk, deluxe resort guests can stay late in one park a week. In 2023, this privilege has been limited to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, so we are excited to see what next year brings.

Genie+ Updates Promised for 2024

While we don’t have the particulars, Disney World is promising to make some changes to the Genie+ system. Guests who may be familiar with its predecessor FastPass+, remember the advantage of pre-booking 3 reservations before arrival. With Genie+ in 2023, you are only able to book Genie+ ride windows the day you attend the park.

In a recent announcement, Disney has recognized guest frustrations with Genie+, particularly the lack of pre-bookings, and has said it is looking into updates to the system. While we don’t know exactly how this will look in 2024, we’re excited to see any enhancements to Genie+, and would be over the moon to be able to pre-book 3 attractions prior to leaving home.

The ability to pre-book makes it easier to plan your day, by selecting the time you plan to use the Lightning Lane. Many rides have low wait times early in the day, so we enjoy the ability to book our times to skip the line for later.

We’ll be continuously updating with more news as it becomes available, so be sure to bookmark this page and follow us on Facebook or Instagram for updates as they occur.
