As of July 24, Disney Genie+ will become Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. While many of the features and benefits will remain the same, Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass) will include the option to pre-select up to 3 Lightning Lane Attractions Prior to leaving home. Keep reading for complete details on how the new service will work.

What Is Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass) and How to Use It
Similar to FastPass and Genie+, Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass) allows you to skip the regular ride queue by utilizing a faster Lightning Lane line. The caveat here is that guests must first purchase a Multi Pass for the day and then pre-book a one-hour ride window to enter the Lightning Lane queue for each ride they wish to experience.
You may enter the Lightning Lane any time after your ride window opens until it closes. For instance, if you book a 10:00 am Lightning Lane reservation for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, you may enter the Lightning Lane any time from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
Similar to Genie+, Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass) is easy to book. Simply open the My Disney Experience app and click on the “Lighting Lane Passes” tile from the home screen.
From here, you’ll be able to purchase Disney World MultiPass, make MultiPass reservations, and view or modify existing reservations.
When to Book Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass)
Once again, the booking process offers a change from Genie+. With Genie+, you needed to arise before 7:00 am each day of your trip to purchase the line-skipping service and make your first reservation of the day. It was particularly important to make your first reservation early if you hoped to score a place in the Lightning Lane for popular rides
With Disney MultiPass (Multi Pass), there is no more early morning wake up calls during your trip. Instead, guests may login to the Disney World app using their My Disney Experience account prior to leaving home and make up to 3 Lightning Lane reservations for each day they hold a valid park ticket.
- Guests of Disney World resorts, including Shades of Green and Disney Swan and Dolphin, may book Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass) reservations beginning 7 days prior to the start of their trip.
- Guests of other Disney resorts may begin booking Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass) reservations beginning 3 days from the start of their trip.
- Active and retired members of the U.S. military holding a milatry ticket may make preselections 7 days prior to the start of their ticket.
- Annual passholders are subject to different restrictions depending upon what time they plan to enter the park and when they plan to visit.
To book your Disney World MultiPass Reservation, you’ll first want to make a list of each attraction for which you’d like to reserve the Lightning Lane in Advance. Slots for popular attractions may go quickly, so it helps to know in advance what attractions you plan to book and have alternative selections on hand.
To provide you with the best chance for success, you’ll want to open the My Disney Experience mobile app at 7:00 am exactly 7 days prior to arrival. For instance, if you arrive on a Monday, you may begin making your MultiPass reservations for Lightning Lane access the Monday before.
You’ll find a tile on the home screen of the mobile app labeled “Lightning Lane Passes”. Tapping this tile will bring you to a new screen, where you have the option to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Guests will be able to purchase Multi Pass and book up to 3 Lightning Lane reservations for each day of their theme park ticket all in one simple transaction. Guests may hold 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservations at a time.
That means that every time you use a Multi Pass reservation, you are free to make a new one. To do so, simply open the mobile app, find the “Lightning Lane Passes” tile, and select a new ride and return time.
Disney World Multi Pass Is Only Available for Select Rides–Ride Tiers for Preselecting Attractions
When booking Disney World Multi Pass reservations, it’s important to know that not all rides will be available for unlimited pre-booking. To provide as many guests as possible with an opportunity to pre-book the more popular rides, Disney has instituted a tiered system.
For each day you preselect Multi Pass attractions, you will be able to select one ride from Tier one and 2 from Tier Two. You may also opt to book all of your preselections from Tier Two.
You will find the following tiering structure in effect for each park:
Disney Hollywood Studios Multi Pass Rides | |
Preselect up to one experience from this group | Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Slinky Dog Dash |

Understanding Disney World Single Pass
If your wheels are turning thinking of all the time you’ll save by skipping the regular queue on Disney’s top attractions, it’s time to introduce another new factor to the Disney Lightning Lane service: Not all rides are included in Multi Pass.
When perusing the list of Multi Pass attractions above, you may quickly notice that the most popular rides, those that rack up the longest standby lines, aren’t included in the daily fee you’ll pay for Disney World’s MultiPass (Multi Pass). However, Lightning Lane access is still available through a separate booking known as Disney World Single Pass. The most important thing to know about Single Pass is that it requires a separate purchase.
Disney World Single Pass reservations are available for high-demand rides, such as Rise of the Resistance, 7 Dwarfs Mine Train, Flight of Passage and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. We anticipate as new attractions open, they will also be added to this list.
You may preselect up to 2 Single Pass reservations for each day of your ticket. These do not have to be reserved in the same park. So, if you plan to park hop on a given day from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, you may preselect a Single Pass enabled attraction to pre-book from each park.
Guests who do not preselect Single Pass reservations prior to the start of their trip may choose from any available time slots while in the parks on the day of their visit.
Similar to Disney World MultiPass, Single Pass bookings utilize dynamic pricing. That means, the price you pay may change according to the day you are visiting and the attraction you are booking.
Attractions Available with Disney World Single Pass
You may book a Lightning Lane Single Pass for the following attractions:
Animal Kingdom
- Avatar Flight of Passage
Disney Hollywood Studios
- Star Wars Rise of the Resistance
EPCOT
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Magic Kingdom
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- TRON/Lightcycle Run
Summary of Disney World Multi Pass—The Critical Things You Need to Know
Given the combination of similarities and differences between Genie+ and Multi Pass, there has been a lot of confusion for repeat Disney World guests. The long and short of the service is this:
- Multi Pass must be purchased for each day of your trip. The cost starts at $15 a day plus tax, totaling up to $15.98 per person, but may be more, depending on the day you visit (see more on pricing below).
- You will be able to see the cost for both Disney World Multi Pass and Single Pass before opting to purchase.
- You may preselect up to 3 Disney World MulitPass (Multi Pass) reservations for each day of your ticket, beginning at 7:00 am 7 days prior to arrival.
- When preselecting Multi Pass attractions, all 3 reservations must be made in the same theme park. For instance, if you make your first Multi Pass selection of the day in Magic Kingdom, you must make your remaining 2 advanced reservations at Magic Kingdom
- Multi Pass reservations follow a “use one-book one” system. You may hold up to 3 reservations at a time for each day. Each time you tap into the Lightning Lane, you are free to book another Multi Pass reservation.
- Once you have used one of your pre-selected Multi Pass reservations, you may book Multi Pass reservations in other parks, provided you have a Park Hopper Ticket.
- Upon logging into the app, you will be presented with the next available ride time for each ride. However, you may select any available time to make your reservation.
- In order to preselect either Multi Pass or Single Pass experiences, you must have your tickets and resort reservation linked to your My Disney Experience account. You’ll also want to ensure that all members of your travel party are also linked to your account.
- Lighting Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass purchases are final. If you purchase either service, and then decide not to use it, refunds will not be issued.
How to Book Disney World MultiPass: Looking at the Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Action
For many guests, the new Disney World Multi Pass service sounds quite complicated, but once you get started, you will find that it’s pretty easy to navigate. Let’s look at an example.
I am planning a trip, staying at Disney’s Old Key West resort. The first day my tickets are open for use is on Monday.
To make the most of my experience, I get up a little early on the Monday morning before my trip and log into the My Disney Experience at around 6:50 am. I then click on the “Lightning Lane Passes” tile from the home screen.
I then select the date I wish to purchase Disney World MultiPass (Multi Pass).
I will then select the first park I will be visiting that day.
I will then be asked to purchase Multi Pass. I will also have the option to purchase Single Pass if I plan to use it.
I will then be asked to select everyone in my travel party.
Once I have formed my party, I will be asked to purchase Multi Pass and/or Single Pass. From there, I will be able to preselect up to 3 attractions.
I repeat this process for each day of my trip.
What if I Change My Mind? Can I Modify Lightning Lane Selections?
Guests will be able to modify both Multi Pass and Single Pass selections at any time, provided there are available openings. You modify both preselections and those made in the parks on the day of your visit by following the same steps to book a reservation. The only difference is, you will not need to purchase Multi Pass or Single Pass again.
When you tap the “lightning Lane Passes” tile, you will see a list of your current selections. Simply select one and the option to modify. You will see available attractions and return times.

Tips and Strategies for Disney World Multi Pass
Guests of Disney World resorts have a decided advantage when it comes to preselecting attractions. Since the most popular attractions can sell out of Multi Pass availability, the 7-day booking window is a benefit.
For the best chance at scoring a Lightning Lane reservation for the most popular rides, we recommend that you are on the app and ready to book at 7:00 am the day your window opens.
This is most important when scheduling your Hollywood Studio day, given the number of headliner attractions. We recommend scheduling a visit to this park as late in your vacation as possible.
When it comes time to make your Multi Pass reservations, select this date first. Keep in mind that the first day of your trip is the last day for many people, meaning they will have already made their reservations ahead of you. By booking the end of your trip first, you are in less competition for preselecting rides than you are at the beginning of your trip.
When booking rides at other parks, you will likely find the competition to be less of an issue.
If you’re staying offsite and are worried that you’ll miss the chance to use Multi Pass to skip the queue on the most popular attractions, the best piece of advice we can give is to arrive early. Lines are often light in the morning, so fewer people are booking reservations first thing.
By arriving early, you can jump in line for some of the attractions which typically experience long lines and still experience a short wait.
Arriving early could also be your friend if you’re looking to save money and not purchase Multi Pass. Rides for many Lightning Lane enabled attractions are short enough first thing in the morning that you won’t need an expedited queue.
In some parks, such as Animal Kingdom where the rides with the highest wait times are only available through Single Pass, you may be able to skip the Multi Pass purchase entirely if you have access to Early Theme Park Entry and use it according to our guidelines.
Also, keep in mind that it is possible to purchase a Multi Pass at any time. That means if lines start to escalate during the day, you can purchase Multi Pass for the remainder of your day.
Just keep in mind that Multi Pass reservations may run out as the day wears on.
Introducing Lighting Lane Premier Pass (LLPP)
Beginning October 30th of 2024, many guests with upcoming Disney World travel plans will be able to take part in a pilot program by purchasing Lighting Lane Premier Pass (LLPP). With LLPP, guests are able to purchase one-time access to the Lightning Lane per day, for every Lightning Lane-enabled ride. That means each guest who purchases Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be able to ride all rides on the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass lists above, using the Lightning Lane, one time.
Best of all, there is no need to make reservations. Simply find the attraction you want to experience, hop in the Lightning Lane and be on and off the ride in no time. If you’re craving more line-skipping fun after using your first round of Premier Pass Lightning Lane entries, you may also purchase Multi Pass or Single Pass.
Universal Orlando has been offering their version of Lightning Lane Premier Pass for several years, and it’s exciting to see that Disney has upped their game in this area. However, you might find the prices for Premier Pass to be a little different than those levied for Universal’s Express Pass. At Disney World, prices will vary by park and date, but will come in around the following:
- Animal Kingdom Park: $129-$199 plus tax per person
- EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax per person
- Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax per person
- Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax per person
When Lightning Lane Premier Pass launches at Disney World, it will first be available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts and may be purchased up to seven days in advance of their stay. The first date guests will be able to use Lightning Lane Premier Pass is October 30, 2024 and it will be good for one park only per day.
Like Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Premier Pass also includes Disney PhotoPass Lenses and PhotoPass downloads of ride or attraction photos.
Guests at any of the following Disney’s Deluxe resorts or villas my purchase Premier Pass beginning 7 days prior to arrival for up to 14 days, as long as they hold a valid theme park ticket and both their ticket and resort reservation are linked to their My Disney Experience account:
